Spoof Advertisements

1. What is the underlying message of the advertisements to encourage more people to go to the cinema to watch movies?

A cinema is presented as a medium of escapism from the painful reality in life. Thus, in the cinema, people can leave out all their problems behind because at that particular moment in the cinema, people are too caught up in the world of the movies they're watching that they tend to forget other things.

2.How is the idea of fantasy as seen in the romantic movie "Titanic" and the idealized version of whales in the movie " Free Willy" contrasted with the slogan "reality sucks" of the print advertisements?

In the movie "Titanic" it appears that when the two loving couple,Jack and Rose, were standing on the edge of the ship, they were happy and of course in love and there's no reason not to be with the beautiful view and all. However,in reality, when two people are standing on the edge of the ship they are most likely to be hit by a bird (as seen in the poster) or fall off from the edge. In the movie "Free Willy" it was shown that in the end Whilly was able to escape from captivity by jumping through the rocks while the boy stands in between but obviously in reality the chances of that is really low because like what's shown in the poster.

3.What is the stereotypical image of wild animals in captivity and love cruises?

The stereotypical image of wild animals in captivity is that they are tame and will obide to us at all times but this statement is obviously not true because we have seen many cases whereby the owner of a particular animal gets bitten or sometimes even killed by then. As for love cruises,it is shown as probably one of the most romantic thing to do with your partner but what are the chances of getting sea-sick or they ship gets hit by a block of ice? Just saying.
